Vionic Cares’ Impact In 2022

2022 marked another impactful year for Vionic Cares. We continued our support of many organizations whose missions and purposes resonate with us and our brand. We care about our community, the planet, and encouraging overall health and wellness within our everyday lives. Here are the organizations we supported throughout 2022:

Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF):

Continuing our partnership from 2021, Vionic released a limited-edition capsule of Gemma, Relax, and Pismo. The sneaker and two slippers were created in a Cameo Pink colorway, our way of standing in solidarity with everyone who has been impacted by the disease. 100% of net proceeds from sales went to BCRF, totaling over $175,000 from over 2,600 pairs sold. Breast Cancer Research Foundation strives to find a cure while supporting research for prevention.

Center for Domestic Peace®:

We were proud to sponsor their annual “In Celebration of Mothers” event that took place on Mother’s Day. We helped cover the expenses of the afternoon luncheon, and also fund programs and services that are important for those who have been affected by domestic violence. The Center for Domestic Peace was also a recipient of funds raised during one of our sample sales.

Dress For Success®:

We were proud to continue our long-standing partnership with the San Francisco/Bay Area chapter of Dress For Success. Dress For Success focuses on empowering women by providing the tools that allow them to grow both in their personal and professional lives. We donated $20,000 and supported their annual Stretch for Success and Holiday Soiree events. Additionally, they were featured as one of two highlighted Giving Tuesday recipients, where another $3,000 was raised as a direct result of consumer contributions.

FARE®:

As one of the recipients of Giving Tuesday and sample sale donations,, we recently partnered with FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) to bring awareness to the effect of food allergies and support important research. FARE strives to help find prevention strategies and develop treatments. We believe that food allergies are part of overall health and helping to manage them can help people live their best lives.

PNOC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®:

We were proud to continue our partnerships with both PNOC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, highlighting their great work and importance during the month of September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a leader in research and treatment of childhood cancers. Over the last 60 years, they have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate in the U.S. from 20% to 80%. PNOC, founded by Vionic co-founder Bruce Campbell and his wife Allyn in 2013,  after their son was diagnosed with a brain tumor, focuses on bringing awareness and raising funds for research on pediatric brain cancer. During September, customers were able to donate during checkout with 100% of donations split equally between the two organizations. Over $16,000 was raised with over 5,400 donations.

PROTEUS™:

As part of our ongoing partnership with Proteus, we launched a limited-edition capsule of shoes made from 100% post-consumer recycled material from ocean-bound plastics. Back in June, we were honored to help host a beach cleanup at Santa Monica State Beach. We are proud to be part of the fight to protect our oceans, by committing $500,000 through 2024.

Here at Vionic we constantly strive to find ways that we can make impactful change in people’s lives: through the footwear we create or the organizations that we support. We are looking forward to an exciting 2023!

Giving Tuesday: Vionic Partners with FARE and Dress For Success

It’s the most wonderful time of the year to give, donate and empower: Giving Tuesday. In the charitable spirit of this day, we were pleased to give to Dress For Success and to FARE—two organizations that step it up for the greater good all year long!

Established in 2012 by New York City’s 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, Giving Tuesday started with a simple mission: to encourage people to do good. It has since evolved into an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. Nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, corporations, families and individuals come together to donate time, resources and talents to address local challenges, bonding the collective power of a unique blend of partners and amplifying small acts of kindness.

Vionic Cares, our charitable foundation, once again participated in Giving Tuesday on November 29th, focusing on food allergy advocacy through FARE and providing women with the professional attire they need to thrive in their careers through Dress For Success.

FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) is the nation’s leading non-profit engaged in food allergy advocacy as well as the largest private funder of food allergy research. FARE’s innovative education, advocacy and research initiatives transform the future of food allergy through new and improved treatments and prevention strategies, effective policies and legislation, and novel approaches to managing the disease.

Dress For Success, Vionic’s long standing charitable partner, is a global not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and life. Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to 143 cities in 23 countries and has helped more than 1.3 million women work towards self-sufficiency.

Thank you to all our wonderful customers who helped make our Giving Tuesday an impactful one. We look forward to continuing this annual event next year and far beyond.

Vionic & Friends Makes Strides in Fighting Childhood Cancer

A diagnosis of cancer is devastating, affecting not only the individual, but their immediate family and their larger network as well. Modern medicine has come a long way in helping to increase the cure rate, but unfortunately, there is still a lot of research to be done. In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Vionic is proud to highlight our continued partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium Foundation (PNOC). Together, we’re taking steps towards a cure for cancer.

For many years, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been instrumental in leading the way in terms of research and treatment of childhood cancers. In the last 60 years, they have helped to push the overall childhood cancer survival rate in the U.S. from 20% to over 80%. Additionally, no family receives a bill while their child is being treated at the hospital.

PNOC strives to bring awareness and raise funds for research on pediatric brain cancer, which is now the deadliest of all childhood cancers. PNOC was established by Vionic co-founder Bruce Campbell and his wife Allyn in 2013 after their son George was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2010. 12 years later, after 10 hours of surgery and 31 radiation sessions, George is doing well. The Campbells do their best to make sure that other kids facing a cancer diagnosis have the same opportunity to live life to the fullest.

Last month, Vionic customers had the opportunity to donate to these great organizations when checking out, with 100% of donations going equally to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and PNOC. With over 5,400 donations, over $16,000 was raised. Vionic stands for advocating on behalf of wellness in all its forms, and we thank you in advance for helping make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.

Vionic Continues Its Support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October, we are proud to announce our continued partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) as they push forward in supporting prevention research and to find a cure. After the success of our first BCRF capsule collection last year, we’re doing it again so that you can continue to join us, standing in solidarity with everyone impacted by this disease. For 2022, we’re offering two slippers and a sneaker in our signature Cameo Pink, a colorway that’s exclusive to this partnership. 100% of net proceeds from the sale capsule collection will go to BCRF, with a minimum donation of $100,000.00. Here is some more information on the styles for 2022:

Vionic Proudly Partners with Proteus™ to Host Beach Cleanup

This past June, in partnership with the undersea research group Proteus™, Vionic hosted its inaugural Beach Cleanup as part of the launch of our Vionic x Proteus eco-conscious sneaker collection. Held at Santa Monica State Beach in southern California, a beautiful day was had by attendees who showed up to collect garbage from the beach and give back to the Earth in an impactful, action-oriented way. Proteus founder Fabien Cousteau (Aquanaut, Ocean Explorer, and Environment Advocate) was also on hand, meeting with attendees and putting on a great program that explained the work Proteus does to advocate on behalf of the world’s oceans.

Vionic x Proteus is the first shoe collaboration that Proteus has become involved with—a logical fit given that the fabric on these shoes is a 100% post‑consumer recycled material created from ocean‑bound plastic bottles. The collection currently consists of three casual slip-on styles that feature colorful, hand-drawn ocean corals by the Vionic design team. Vionic and Proteus are committed to bringing awareness about the health of our oceans and why it is imperative that we strive to protect it.

Vionic SVP and GM, Angela Caltagirone, Honored by Dress for Success in Its “Your Hour, Her Power” Campaign

As women around the world continue to be disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vionic Shoes—from our home base in San Rafael, California—is pleased to align with local chapters of Dress for Success® San Francisco/San Jose in inspiring hope and resilience in women through its “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign. We are also thrilled that this invaluable non-profit is also recognizing our own Angela Caltagirone, as a member of Bay Area Women in Power, for her outstanding leadership and advocacy of initiatives that help women thrive professionally and personally.

Vionic is fortunate to have the guidance of Angela in her role as Senior Vice President and General Manager. With a career devoted to developing some of retail’s biggest brands, she’s been instrumental in helping build Vionic into what it is today with visionary goals for the future. Part of Angela’s considerable expertise includes her dedication to mentoring a strong leadership environment in which women are front and center.

This leadership has shone during the challenging business climate of the past two years, guiding a nimble approach to all aspects of our Vionic operation. From embracing the corporate shift to a remote workforce, navigating global supply-chain issues, driving revenue through economic upheaval, etc., Angela and the larger leadership team have worked to ensure Vionic’s continuing success while maintaining the health and safety of all employees. In step with the societal landscape, she has upheld diversity, equity and inclusion as cornerstones of our brand’s wellness-driven DNA. And, when it could have been a time to pull back from philanthropy, Angela has not lost focus on it being a key Vionic priority.

Our company and Dress for Success have enjoyed a long relationship that’s included event sponsorship, financial contributions and donations of Vionic shoes to help empower women in either entering or returning to the workplace. The mission of Dress for Success is to assist women in finding their way to contribute to the world economy by providing much needed support, due to a variety of situations, that have impeded their confidence and independence.

For all these things (and more!), we celebrate Angela for her recognition in the “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign by Dress for Success. Congratulations!

Vionic Cares is proud to support Center for Domestic Peace

In continuing our impact in our community and beyond, Vionic Cares is proud to announce our support of Center for Domestic Peace as a sponsor of their annual “In Celebration of Mothers” event. Vionic Cares’ sponsorship not only helps to cover the event costs, but will help fund programs and services that are instrumental in helping those who have been affected by domestic violence of any kind. The mission of Center for Domestic Peace is reducing and hopefully eliminating domestic violence for women, children, and in families as a whole.

The “In Celebration of Mothers” luncheon is an afternoon event, taking place on Mother’s Day, that allows supporters–families, community members, donors, and more–of Center for Domestic Peace to meet, inspire, and discuss with the goal of creating incredible energy and great memories that help to make positive change to many people’s lives.

If you would like to join in on supporting Center for Domestic Peace, you can donate here to help support an important cause.

Vionic Cares Continues Partnership with Dress for Success

A new year means new opportunities to continue giving back! It’s 2022 and Vionic Cares is in action, working towards supporting a brighter future for people from all walks of life. This philanthropic branch of Vionic Shoes strategically connects with charitable partners on a range of causes focused on environmental sustainability, health and wellness, women’s interests, and childhood cancer.

Following an incredibly impactful 2021, Vionic Cares is proud to announce that it will continue its long standing partnership with the San Francisco/Bay Area chapter of Dress for Success, a global organization that aims to empower women through the tools they need to grow professionally and in life. Currently, Dress for Success operates in 23 countries and serves over 1.2 million women. Last year, Vionic Cares was on their side, donating Vionic shoes and $20,000 of financial aid to the organization.

To get energized for the year ahead, let’s take a look at a few of our Dress for Success highlights from 2021:

Stretch for Success

Together, Dress for Success and Vionic Cares kicked off 2021 with Stretch for Success, a virtual yoga event. Vionic donated 100 pairs of new shoes to Dress for Success clients, women in their job search program and members of the Professional Women’s Group.

Holiday Soirée

At the beginning of December 2021, Vionic spread some holiday cheer and sponsored a designer pop-up shop at the annual Dress for Success Holiday Soirée. The event took place in San Francisco and allowed people to make a positive impact in the community while getting an opportunity to have some fun shopping.

While both events were a success, the lasting impact and importance of them really plays out after the fact. Carmela, a Dress for Success client, sums it up: “I’d like to express my gratitude to you for making this possible and to thank the generosity of Vionic for the opportunity to get a pair of their shoes. I chose the Lani black leather boots. They feel and look great, and will give me added confidence to go out and continue making things happen for myself and others!”

Making a difference where and when we can is what Vionic Cares is all about—supporting opportunity from the ground up. Ready for another year of giving and impact? Let’s go!

Support for #GivingTuesday and the Global Generosity Movement

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday kicking off “the giving season” in ways that are good for commerce and the economy, Giving Tuesday puts the focus on “community good” with charities, companies, and individuals joining together for favorite causes.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Established in 2012 by New York City’s 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, Giving Tuesday started as a simple concept: To be a day that encourages people to do good. It has since evolved into an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

How Does Giving Tuesday Work?

Harnessing the potential of social media and the generosity of people to bring about real change in their communities, Giving Tuesday provides a platform that encourages the donation of time, resources, and talents to address local challenges. It also bonds the collective power of a unique blend of partners (nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations, as well as families and individuals) to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Around the world, Giving Tuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.

Vionic and Philanthropy

As a brand who cares—founded on delivering wellness from the ground up—the spirit of the global generosity movement resonates deeply within our Vionic DNA. Additionally, being part of the footwear industry presents us with unique ways to give back. The following are a few areas of interest that are near and dear to us when developing philanthropic partnerships through our charitable branch, Vionic Cares:

  • Environment and Sustainability
    • We are dedicated to leading in reducing our industry’s carbon footprint and contributing to the health of our planet.
  • Health and Wellness
    • We are dedicated to enhancing foot health and championing a more vibrant, active lifestyle for all.
  • Women’s Empowerment
    • We are dedicated to supporting women in all ways, especially as it relates to achieving independence in work and in life.
  • Childhood Cancer
    • We are dedicated to raising awareness and research funds on behalf of the PNOC Foundation, established by Vionic co-founder Bruce Campbell and his wife Allyn.

Coming from a place of innovation, technology, and leadership in our field, we value similar fearless passion in organizations with whom we can collaborate to impact greater good.

STEPS TOWARD SUSTAINABILITY

Global Green is an organization focused on building partnerships which integrate shared interests to erase the conflicts between economic needs and ecological systems of life. Envisioning an abundant future for everyone on the planet, Global Green is on a 10-year mission to positively impact the environment, people’s lives, and business growth before climate change becomes irreversible.

Inspired by this, and with our own commitment to honor the spirit of Earth Day—each and every day—Vionic is taking steps toward more sustainable practices. Starting with Vionic BEACH: Our earth-friendly, vegan-certified collection of coastal-style sneakers
made from materials that make a difference.

With BEACH, we’re acting on our mission to reduce the use of fossil-fuel derived polymers in our outsoles by switching to soybean-based alternatives. At the same time, the textiles we use in this collection are fabricated with ethically-produced BCI™ cotton, or upcycled post-consumer polyester. The result is Vionic shoes that are as supportive and stylish as they’ve always been, but with a friendlier environmental footprint.
It’s good for us and for you. Best of all, it benefits the earth.

With the strides we have taken, we know we have only just begun to scratch the surface of all that is possible, such as compostability of shoes. The footwear industry is entering an exciting time to become more green, and Vionic intends to lead as the sustainability movement grows.

We know that collective changes made by each of us, no matter how small they may be at the individual level, contribute to a profound impact from which the entire planet will benefit. Join us with your purchase on April 22 in a step toward sustainability, while enjoying our Vionic benefits of comfort, support, wellness and style—from the ground up!
