Support for #GivingTuesday and the Global Generosity Movement

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday kicking off “the giving season” in ways that are good for commerce and the economy, Giving Tuesday puts the focus on “community good” with charities, companies, and individuals joining together for favorite causes.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Established in 2012 by New York City’s 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, Giving Tuesday started as a simple concept: To be a day that encourages people to do good. It has since evolved into an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

How Does Giving Tuesday Work?

Harnessing the potential of social media and the generosity of people to bring about real change in their communities, Giving Tuesday provides a platform that encourages the donation of time, resources, and talents to address local challenges. It also bonds the collective power of a unique blend of partners (nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations, as well as families and individuals) to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness. Around the world, Giving Tuesday unites communities by sharing our capacity to care for and empower one another.

In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and PNOC Foundation (established by Vionic co-founder Bruce Campbell and his wife Allyn) to raise funds in support of both organizations’ childhood brain cancer research and treatment efforts. Brain cancer, the deadliest childhood cancer, remains vastly underfunded. Research dollars are critical to treating this disease and finding a cure.
